Today, December 30, the Manjaro Linux community was proud to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the Manjaro Linux BspWM Community Edition 15.12 computer operating system.

The Manjaro Linux BspWM Community Edition 15.12 comes right after the announcement of the Manjaro Linux i3 Community Edition 15.12, bringing a more minimalistic desktop interface for terminal/text-mode aficionados. It is designed to be as lightweight as possible, but fully functional.

Powered by Linux kernel 4.4 LTS, the Manjaro Linux BspWM Community Edition 15.12 operating system switches to only GTK3 applications, including the well-known Midori web browser, Gufw firewall, SpaceFm file manager, as well as Gedit text editor, dumping support for GTK2.

The GNU/Linux distribution is based on the recently released Manjaro Linux 15.12 (Capella) operating system and it's built around Bspwm-manjaro, the brand-new Git build of the BspWM open source window manager, featuring some extra functionality, such as automatic updates for configuration files.

"We are happy to announce a new addition to our community editions, BspWM edition," said Chrysostomus, maintainer of Manjaro Linux BspWM and Manjaro Linux i3. "Compared with our i3 edition, it is more minimalistic and cli oriented, with 64bit edition booting at 105mb ram used (depending on hardware)."

Better multithread support, terminal related features

Among other interesting features implemented in the Manjaro Linux BspWM Community Edition 15.12 operating system, we can mention better multithread support, the addition of two functional and light lemonbar-based panels, lemonpanel and limepanel, as well as dmenu-based helpers.

Furthermore, the OS comes with a desktop menu in the style of the Openbox window manager, based on dmenu-manjaro, several powerful scripts, draggable window gaps, and controls designed to be usable with either the keyboard or mouse, as well as accessible with one hand.

Last but not least, the distro brings a large number of terminal related features that you can read in the official release announcement. Download Manjaro Linux BspWM Community Edition 15.12 right now from Softpedia, where you'll find Live CD ISO images for both 64-bit and 32-bit computers.
