14 DAY TRIAL // The Manjaro developers have just issued the first update for Manjaro 15.12 (Capella), bringing a few important changes and improvements.
The Manjaro developers have been quick to improve upon the recently released version 15.12 of the operating system, and it looks like they have been working right through Christmas. It's only been a few days since the official launch of the OS, so it's really nice to see that they want to provide proper support.
Manjaro is based on Arch Linux, and it's in a way a rolling release as well, but the Manjaro developers offer large upgrade packs. Most of the branches had about 10 or 12 big upgrades before they reached end of life.
What's new in Manjaro 15.12
"This updates Plasma5 to 5.5.2, dbus to 1.10.6, Thunderbird to 38.5, the kernel to 4.4-rc7, mesa to 11.1.0 and fixes to our GTK Maia theme. Also we updated several python and haskell packages, renewed wine and optimized some deepin settings. Finally we can also present Budgie v10.1 to you. Version 10 is a complete and utter rewrite of the Budgie Desktop from the ground up," developers wrote.
It's interesting to see that the Manjaro team has been so quick to provide an upgrade for the Budgie desktop, which has also just been released. In fact, the Budgie team has been working with the Manjaro guys to make sure that that the desktop will be integrated just nicely. They are also recommending using the Vertex theme for the best results.
According to the changelog, multiple monitors are now supported, proper HiDPI support has been integrated, all settings now handled in Raven, the new Notification Center, multiple panels are supported, and the Budgie Session has been dropped in favor of gnome-session integration. This is just for Budgie alone.
