The Manjaro developers have been quick to release the first update pack for Manjaro 15.09, which was released less than a week ago.

Manjaro gets a lot of these updates during the development cycle for one of these branches. The distros usually get around ten updates before the devs move on to another version, but given the fact that the first update for Manjaro 15.09 arrived this fast, we might get to see a few more this time. They usually bring various package upgrades and that includes the Linux kernel, but some bigger stuff like major new versions for desktop environments also land from time to time.

It's also worth pointing out that Manjaro is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux and it's one of the most prominent in this category. Even if they don't follow the same kind of release policy, their distribution is still compatible with the repositories from Arch, which means that users will usually get access to most of the latest packages.

What's new in the update for Manjaro 15.09

"We are happy to announce our first update for Manjaro 15.09 (Bellatrix)! With this we updated Mesa to 11 series, repacked pulseaudio 7.0, linux310 to 3.10.90, linux314 3.14.54, linux41 to 4.1.9, linux42 to 4.2.2, linux43 to rc3, updated Firefox, Thunderbird, added pulseaudio60 6.0 package for users having issues with the newer 7 series, Calamares is now at his second bugfix release for 1.1.4 and Octopi got updated to version 0.7.3. Also we ship the usual Archlinux upstream fixes (Thu Oct 1 17:52:23 CEST 2015)," said the developers.

As it stands right now, the supported Linux kernels are 3.10.90, 3.12.48, 3.13.11.27, 3.13.11.27, 3.16.7.17, 3.18.21, 3.19.8.7, .1.9, 4.2.2, and 4.3-rc3. You can download Manjaro 15.09 from Softpedia and give it a spin and just update the operating system if you want all of these latest packages.
