The Zentyal development team was proud to announce today, March 27, the immediate availability for download of their Zentyal Server 4.1 open-source operating system that is natively interoperable with Microsoft’s Exchange Server and Active Directory (AD) protocols.

Being based on the Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system, the new Zentyal Server 4.1 is here to further improve the overall stability and performance of the distribution, as well as of the features offered by the OpenChange module. Zentyal Server 4.1 is now distributed in two different flavors, a development edition for users who want bleeding-edge functionality, and a commercial version for stable production environments.

The new version supports ActiveSync and Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication

Highlights of Zentyal Server 4.1 include native support for Microsoft Exchange Server, support for Microsoft Outlook 2007, 2010, and 2013, native support for Microsoft Active Directory (AD), support for multiple virtual mail domains, support for email, contacts, and calendars, webmail support, ActiveSync support, and Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication.

Additionally, the operating system offers support for the CIFS file system, Multiple Organizational Units (OUs), basic firewall and networking, central domain directory management, DNS server, port forwarding, certification authority, packet filter, DHCP server, static and DHCP interfaces, printers management, NTP server, and VPN server/client.

All the Microsoft Windows operating system are supported too

Last but not least, the new Zentyal release supports the Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 operating systems, supports ACLs (Access control lists), supports security groups, supports distribution lists, and supports advanced domain management functionality via RSAT (Apr 7, 2011 - Remote Server Administration Tools).
