ZTE fans have been expecting the Chinese company's latest flagship smartphone to go on sale for less than month. However, judging by the latest rumors, it looks like they will have to wait at least several more weeks in order to grab the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max.

The high-end smartphone was said to go on sale on April 16, but sadly, that did not happen, GizmoChina reports. Word from ZTE is that the sale of the Nubia Z9 Max has been postponed to next month.

The Chinese company has already explained the real reason the sale of the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max has been delayed, which is the complexity of the manufacturing process for this particular model.

It appears that the Nubia Z9 Max is made of a double glass and aluminum body, which requires CNC machining and other intricate processes. This in turn translates into longer manufacturing times, hence the delay.

ZTE has also mentioned that, due to its extreme quality control that goes above industry standards, the production of the Nubia Z9 Max has been delayed until next month.

No exact release date has been given, just an ETA

So, consumers who are still waiting for the ZTE Nubia Z9 Max to go on sale should know that the smartphone won't be available for purchase until May.

The Nubia Z9 Max will be initially launched in China and will cost 2,499 yuan outright, which is about $400 or €380.

The smartphone is equipped with a powerful 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.

On the back, ZTE's flagship smartphone packs a 16-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, whereas on the front there will be a secondary no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for video calls and great selfies.

ZTE Nubia Z9 Max boasts a decent 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen display, as well as 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.

According to ZTE, the Nubia Z9 Max will ship with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, and it will be powered by a 2,900 mAh battery.
