Earlier this week, we reported about a brand new budget-friendly ZTE smartphone that made its debut in Europe, the Blade Qlux 4G.

The smartphone is already available for purchase in Russia, but beginning next week customers in India will be able to get it as well, a new report confirms.

The ZTE Blade Qlux 4G will be exclusively available via Amazon India for just Rs 4,999 outright, which is about $80 or €70. Sales start on June 16 and those who buy the phone will also be offered double data promotion from local carrier Airtel.

“At ZTE it’s our mission to get the technology of the future in the hands of our customers today. The Indian consumer is getting ready for 4G and we want to make sure that not only compatible devices are available to the consumers, but are also available at an affordable price. We are extremely excited to introduce the ZTE Blade Qlux 4G to every Indian who wants to be tomorrow ready,” said Yuan Kang, CEO Terminal Sales South Asia, ZTE.

The main strong point of ZTE's smartphone is the fact that it comes with 4G support and that it offers dual-SIM support. Apart from that, the phone's specs are pretty decent, but don't impress at all.

It comes with KitKat, but ZTE promises a Lollipop update

Unfortunately, the Blade Qlux 4G ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, but the good news is ZTE is said to have promised a Lollipop upgrade at some point in the future.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediAtek MT6732M processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Last but not least, ZTE Blade Qlux 4G packs a 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front. The phone is powered by a 2,200 mAh removable battery.
