The YouTube video of the police officer angrily screaming at a Uber driver has gone viral and has sparked some controversy among netizens.

Accustomed to usually seeing Uber drivers in a bad light because of an increasingly large number of misconduct cases reported in the media, this video was a bit shocking for the viewers because it’s the police officer who turned out to be the bad guy.

The video was posted online by driver Sanjay Seth, and it currently has more than 2 million views and it’s no wonder if we take into consideration how appalling the case is.

The police officer had no right to treat the driver that way

The video shows a New York officer abusing his power and shouting gratuitous nonsense at the driver, who was not in the wrong. According to the description of the video, the police officer had tried to park without using his blinker at a green light.

When the Uber driver gestured the cop to let him know that he should be using his blinker, it appears that the latter got angry, got off of his car and started yelling at the taxi driver.

At a certain point in the video, you can hear the officer asking the driver, "How long you been in this country?" which was considered somewhat racist by some of those commenting on the video.

The driver kept his cool during the slur, but later on filed a complaint and according to CNN, the police officer is under investigation.

It seems that the officer has already apologized for his action, but he could still face reassignment.

In response to the incident, Uber declared that "The behavior in the video is wrong and unacceptable and we appreciate the NYPD investigating the incident. We are in touch with our driver-partner who was subjected to this terrible experience and will continue to provide any support he needs," CNN reported.
