YotaPhone 2, the sequel to that strange smartphone with dual displays, will finally be available in the United States. Initially announced at MWC 2014, YotaPhone 2 only made it to market in late December and it's only available in some countries.

Although previous rumors indicated that the dual-screen smartphone might be launched in the United States through major carrier T-Mobile, the Magenta operator appears to have no intention of adding the smartphone to its portfolio.

However, Yota's Managing Director for Americas, Matthew Kelly, told PhoneScoop that his company plans to introduce YotaPhone 2 in the United States through crowd-funding website Indiegogo.

Those who want to purchase the smartphone will have to come up with around $600, but some reward levels may be more expensive and include some incentives, as expected from a crowd-funding campaign.

Now for those of you wondering, the YotaPhone 2 will be compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T networks, including LTE.

Android 5.0 Lollipop may be coming ahead of release

It's also worth mentioning that while the smartphone was launched with Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system, Yota is now working on Android 5.0 Lollipop for the smartphone and hopes to be ready until the phone gets released.

For those out of the loop, here is a short recap of what the YotaPhone 2 has to offer. First of all, it comes with a 5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, and a secondary always-on grayscale display (540 x 960 pixels).

When it comes to hardware, the YotaPhone 2 is equipped with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. This will be very important as the smartphone does not feature microSD card slot.

YotaPhone 2 also packs an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a secondary 2.1-megapixel camera in the front, as well as a non-removable 2500 mAh battery.
