The organization that manages the Ultimate Fighting Championship says that it plans to have an official app, called the UFC Fight Pass, ready to launch on the Xbox One home console before the end of the current year.

A fan site says that no clear date was offered and the company is not mentioning at the moment whether the functionality will be the same as for the version of the service which is offered on the older Xbox 360.

The UFC Fight Pass allows users to see live events, explore a vast archive and get access to other exclusives, and apparently more content will be added in the coming months.

It’s unclear whether there are plans for the UFC Fight Pass to also launch on the PlayStation 4 from Sony before the end of the year or whether the app will be exclusive to one current-gen platform.

When the Xbox One was first announced, Microsoft said that it was working with a variety of content providers to make the platform a powerful entertainment center, where apps can allow fans to access the events they like when they want.

The fact that the UFC Fight Pass is available on the Xbox 360 and not on the newer device has attracted criticism from the community and the organization will move fast to try and deliver the app as soon as possible.
