The team in charge of the Xbox One is announcing that the Upload Studio service is getting a major update designed to introduce a range of new features that should make it easier for gamers to create content based on their experience on the home console.

The announcement comes with an official video featuring Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, the main community liaison for the platform, showing the new elements added to the app and how they can be used.

They include transitions, splash screen, intros, more templates, double box, and green screen effects.

The run time for all content created on the Xbox One with the Upload Studio is now extended to 30 minutes and there are a number of other smaller changes.

Major Nelson seems particularly impressed with the way green screen effects are created using the Kinect motion tracking system and says that all users who use the new features should share their creation using their Xbox One.

Microsoft has not said how many gamers are using the Upload Studio to make clips from games that run on the console and share them with the community, but the fact that the app is getting updates means that there's some interest from the players.

Xbox One aims to be more social and interactive

The Upload Studio is an important element of the social outlook associated with the Xbox One because it gives gamers a relatively easy-to-use way of showing off their biggest accomplishments or defeats.

Since before the official launch, Microsoft has said that it wants those who use its new device to share content and experiences.

Recently, the company has also announced that it is dropping the price for the Xbox One with Kinect for a limited time, which might offer an interesting option for those who want to use the new features of the Upload Studio.

The regular version of the home console is also cheaper since the start of January, as Microsoft aims to reach and maybe pass the sales generated by the PlayStation 4 from Sony, but the delivery of app updates might be more important than price in the long term.

The Xbox One has not managed to defeat its rival during the month of January in the United States.
