The Xbox One home console from Microsoft is at the moment affected by some problems related to the Xbox Live service, with gamers unable to use the Leaderboards and to share or view their Achievements.

The company says that it is actively working to solve the issue, but the official support account has not offered an update in quite some time.

Microsoft states, “We’re aware that some users are currently experiencing issues with Leaderboards and Achievements. Additionally we are aware that users are unable to upload Worlds in Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Our team is engaged and working hard to get these issues fixed ASAP. Thanks for staying patient while we work! We’ll let you know as soon as we have more information.”

At the same time, the Xbox 360 has problems with buying and getting access to downloadable items, which includes Avatar content.

For now, it’s unclear when the problems will be solved, but as always gamers need to keep their eyes on the official status site for Xbox Live services.

Current-gen consoles rely on their online infrastructure to offer apps and services

Both the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony are currently offering a number of features and apps that can only exist because of the online infrastructure that Microsoft and Sony have developed before launch.

When the various services are down, either because of internal issues or because of attacks coming from outside entities, users tend to vocally criticize the two companies and ask them to upgrade their networks and their security.

In the long term, if either Sony or Microsoft manages to make its own infrastructure significantly better, it might gain a solid advantage in the current-gen sales race.

At the moment, the lead belongs to the PlayStation 4, which has gone over the 18.5 million units mark all over the world, but Microsoft says that the Xbox One has been performing well in the period when a temporary price cut has been implemented.

Recently, Sony has announced that The Last of Us Remastered is now part of the official PS4 bundle with a 500 GB hard drive.
