Microsoft is working hard to improve its new console and make developing easier on Xbox One. Through numerous updates to the console's software, as well as SDK, the Xbox One could offer developers slightly more power that can make use when creating hardware-demanding games.

The folks over at GamingBolt report that Dying Light developer Techland has just confirmed that thanks to an update to Xbox One's SDK they were able to better manage eSRAM usage and improve performance of their game on Microsoft's console.

“The new API allows you to do a lot more with the ESRAM, things devs have always wanted to do but were not easily accessible. This together with better tools (PIX) allowed us to really improve performance and tweak ESRAM usage,” confirmed Lead Game Designer Maciej Binkowski.

For those out of the loop, Techland announced that Dying Light would run at 1080p and 30fps (frames per second) on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Future Xbox One games may benefit from a resolution boost

The latest Xbox One SDK update was released on December 12, which means that many upcoming games should benefit from the performance boost that Dying Light took advantage of this month.

The question is how many developers that have already launched their games on Xbox One will want to improve them using the latest SDK. Probably none, though some might want to take into consideration the fact that this SDK update may allow the Xbox One to run some games at higher resolution (i.e. 1080p).

We can be sure that won't be the last SDK update meant to boost Xbox One's power, so we should expect some interesting announcement from developers with games in progress.

Keep in mind that Techland's Dying Light game should be out in January on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
