The Xbox One is a best seller and might keep up the trend

Microsoft confirms that the Xbox One has once again dominated the hardware sales for the month of December in the United States of America, and in honor of this performance, the company introduces a new promotion that takes the price of the standard console bundle to just 349 USD (around 300 EUR) for an unspecified period of time.

The beginning of 2014 wasn't that great for Microsoft, as its Xbox One struggled to keep up with Sony's dominating PlayStation 4 console both at home, in the United States, and abroad, in the rest of the world.

However, with the move of Microsoft Game Studios head Phil Spencer into the top position at the Xbox division, not to mention a 100 USD/EUR price cut by eliminating the Kinect sensor, the Xbox One soon started selling pretty well.

Beginning November, Microsoft brought forth a new promotion that discounted the console to just 349 USD (300 EUR), which allowed it to break the PS4's nearly one-year winning streak in the US in terms of sales.

Xbox One won in December

Now, the results for the month of December are in, and Microsoft confirms on the Xbox Wire that its Xbox One has once again reigned supreme.

While no official numbers are given, the company highlights that the Xbox One is selling really well, much better than the Xbox 360 at the same point in its life cycle.

A new price cut is available

In honor of this performance, Microsoft also confirms that, for an unspecified period of time, the Xbox One will be available once again at the 349 USD (300 EUR) price, although this time around there won't be any games included in the bundle, unless retailers add them on their own.

"Building off a record-setting holiday, we are excited to announce a new promotion in which fans in the US can buy an Xbox One at a special price of $349, starting tomorrow, January 16, from their preferred retailer," Mike Nichols, corporate vice president of Marketing for Xbox, says.

"We are thankful for all the excitement for Xbox One this holiday and proud to offer more fans the amazing games lineup, Xbox Live gaming community, and continual innovation that Xbox One fans have come to enjoy."

It's unclear when the new promotion is going to expire but it seems that Microsoft doesn't want to lose in the US to the PS4 anytime soon, so expect it to last for a while.
