Microsoft has been doing a pretty good job with the monthly firmware updates so far, but Screenshots aren't in the cards

The Xbox One home console is apparently not getting the Screenshot feature this year, according to one of the Xbox developers.

This is quite surprising, as the feature was one of the most requested by owners of Microsoft's next-gen system, and the company has being doing a pretty good job so far, when it comes to firmware updates.

The news comes from an Xbox developer who has announced via NeoGAF that Microsoft doesn't plan to add the Screenshot feature to the console, and so users will have to wait for it a little bit longer.

"Seems like no screenshots this year. Only posting this to prevent disappointment later," the developer writes.

There has been a pretty long delay in adding the requested feature to the device software, but on the upside, the Xbox division is working hard on implementing several other highly sought-after features.

The Xbox One October update is set to deliver Snap Updates, Friends Snap App, DLNA and .mkv support for the Media Player, Live TV Trending, Stream TV to SmartGlass functionality, as well as a host of other such improvements.

This means that October is a pretty decent month as far as new features are concerned, and if the company keeps this up throughout the remainder of the year, they might get away with sneaking screenshots in later on without too much of a fuss.
