He has yet to reveal his next destination

One of the few Microsoft high-profile Xbox execs that have stayed with the Redmond giant until now, Boyd Multerer announced his departure from the company. Although he did not reveal his next destination, Boyd seems pretty excited for what’s to come.

Boyd Multerer joined Microsoft about 17 years ago and is considered the founder of Xbox Live, along with his team. He’s also one of the Xbox One designers and led the team in charge with the XNA game development tools for Xbox.

His last position at Microsoft was director of development for Xbox. Some of his work implied technical design and development of Xbox One, as well as the console’s cloud computing power.

Unfortunately, Multerer is one of the few important execs that have been in charge with different aspects of Xbox development, who has remained loyal to the company up until now.

Boyd is not yet ready to reveal what's the new thing he will be working on

But not anymore, as Boyd took it on Twitter to inform everyone that he was leaving Microsoft for “something new.” He also mentioned that he was “not yet ready to say what that new thing is… But OMG is writing code very day and exploring ideas fun!”

Boyd’s resignation is the last in a long list of Xbox team departures that started with Don Mattick, Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business, Nancy Tellem and Jordan Levin, Xbox Entertainment Studios, Ben Smith, program manager for Xbox One TV, and Marc Whitten, chief product officer for Xbox.

Even though he did not explain what really caused him to leave the company after 17 years, Boyd Multerer said that “nothing is perfect, but Xbox leadership is fine. On the other hand, I’m complicated. I think that is good?”

All in all, we will probably find out more about Boyd Multerer’s future plans soon enough, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
