Microsoft confirms that it's unlocking a brand new possibility for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on the Xbox 360 console, as they're now able to redeem the free Games with Gold titles for the Xbox One through their device, even if they don’t actually own the latest console.

Microsoft rolled out a few interesting new features for the Xbox Live Gold membership program in recent years, but all pale in comparison to Games with Gold, the special service that brings two free games on the Xbox 360 and one free title on the Xbox One, every month.

The program has been a bit hit and this month some really quality games are offered for free to all those who have an active Gold subscription, including Rayman Legends on the Xbox One or Tomb Raider on the Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 owners are getting a new feature

The deal is getting even sweeter for those who have an Xbox 360 console, as Microsoft confirms on the blog of its Community Manager Larry Hryb that an extra perk has been unlocked.

This new feature allows them to "purchase" for free the Xbox One Games with Gold titles and tie them to their account even if they don't have the new console. As such, when they eventually do make the jump to the Xbox One, they'll already have some free titles to play, provided they keep their Xbox Live Gold subscription.

This method was already available if you used the Xbox.com website, but now it can also be accessed from the Xbox 360 dashboard, by using the Games with Gold category.

As such, Xbox 360 owners with active Gold subscriptions can now bind Rayman Legends for the Xbox One to their accounts. Next month, in honor of the latest Xbox Live anniversary, there will be twice the amount of free titles available via Games with Gold, so stay tuned for more deals.
