14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft confirms that it's organizing a special firmware preview program on the Xbox 360 console and that invitations are currently being sent to a select number of users, so that they can try out the upcoming system software update to ensure that it doesn't add new problems to the device.
The Xbox 360 has been around for quite some time and Microsoft has released periodical updates that improved the interface, added new features and functionality, or just fixed things behind the scenes to ensure maximum stability.
Some Xbox 360 owners can preview the next firmware
Now, Microsoft confirms that it's going to implement a fresh preview program for the Xbox 360, through which a select number of console owners can try out the next firmware update and ensure that it fixes what's supposed to get remedied and doesn't cause more problems.
Invitations, according to the blog of Microsoft Community Manager Larry Hryb, are rolling out as we speak and Xbox 360 owners should be met with a special Xbox Live message notifying them that they're now in the preview program.
"Starting in early March select invitees will be able to join the Xbox 360 Preview program. This will work much like the Xbox One preview – and selected customers will be able to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360. Look for a special Xbox Live message then head to Settings, then account then under account management if you’ve been selected, you’ll see Xbox 360 Preview Registration. Sign up there and enroll your console," Hryb mentions.
However, the new system software isn't ready just yet, so they won't be able to do anything right now. The company confirms that it's going to roll out the new firmware in the following weeks and that it's going to focus on common network issues while adding a special Network Connectivity test that can display the download and upload speeds.
More big firmware updates for the Xbox 360 will be released "later this year" according to the corporation, so the preview program is going to be important.
