14 DAY TRIAL // 33-year-old Anna Bondesson, a woman working as a business analyst in Bara, Sweden, claims to be among the very few people in this world suffering from turophobia. What this means is that she has an irrational fear of cheese.
The woman insists that her condition is so bad that just being around cheese is bound to make her cry, maybe even cause her to experience a panic attack. She fears and hates cheese so much that she calls it her “yellow, smelly hell.”
It all started when she was just a child
The 33-year-old business analyst says that her irrational fear of cheese is something that has been part of her life ever since she was a young girl living with her parents. In fact, she can't even remember a time when she was not afraid of cheese.
Her parents say that Anna Bondesson showed an instant and perfectly unexplainable disgust towards cheese when they first introduced her to solid foods. Over the years, she switched from being repulsed by this food to being terrified by it.
Neither the 33-year-old nor her family can explain why the woman had this bizarre reaction to cheese the first time she was introduced to it as a child. What they are sure of is that, for this young lady, being anywhere near cheese is pure torture.
The one thing that Anna Bondesson hates most about cheese is the way it smells. “The smell is the absolute worst part. I don't understand how anyone can eat something that smells like vomit,” she said in an interview, as cited by Express.
It's not easy living with turophobia
Considering how cheese makes her feel, Anna Bondesson must always be on the lookout for accidental encounters that could ruin her day. When going to the supermarket, she does her best to avoid the cheese counter.
When invited to dinner parties, she lies about being allergic to cheese to make sure nobody will try and convince her to eat some. As for her love life, she says she could not possibly date a man who likes this food. She even dumped a guy who made the mistake to offer her cheese.
Despite these inconveniences, the 33-year-old woman has no intention to try and cure her turophobia. She says that this odd condition is part of who she is and that those who want to be friends with her just have to accept this little quirk.
