Actually, the New Zealand woman only found half a cockroach, might have eaten the missing part of the insect's body

A 26-year-old woman living in New Zealand says that, over the weekend, she found a cockroach in a McDonald's Big Mac she got from a restaurant in the town of Blenheim.

Well, technically speaking, it looks like what Anna Stevenson found in her Big Mac wasn't a cockroach per se, but merely half of one such insect's body.

Unaware where the missing half could be, the 26-year-old woman suspects that she might have eaten it before realizing that something was seriously off with her dinner.

The Big Mac seemed perfectly fine at a first glance

In an interview, 26-year-old Anna Stevenson explained that the incident occurred last Saturday. The woman detailed how, being tired and hungry after a busy day moving house, she went to McDonald's to grab dinner for herself and for her son, Luca.

At first glance, the burger she was handed seemed just fine. However, the 26-year-old says that, while she was eating it, she felt something abnormally crunchy in her mouth. Much to her disgust, she found that she was snacking on half a cockroach.

“Thanks McDonald's Blenheim, for the cockroach Big Mac. Only thing worse than finding it, was only finding half of it (have I consumed the other part?) and it was while I was chewing on it thinking it was a bit tough so pulled it out!” Anna Stevenson wrote in a Facebook post.

McDonald's offered to investigate the incident, was refused

Shortly after 26-year-old Anna Stevenson turned to social media to complain about having found half a cockroach in her McDonald's Big Mac, representatives of the fast food chain contacted her and offered to investigate the incident, Mirror informs.

At first, the young woman agreed to let them take the burger and test it. She eventually changed her mind on the grounds that she did not want McDonald's to tamper with the evidence and cover up this clear hygiene breach at its restaurant in Blenheim, New Zealand.

In response, representatives of the fast food chain pointed out that Anna Stevenson got the Big Mac that supposedly came with a cockroach from the restaurant's drive-through window and consumed it at home. Otherwise put, the insect could've come from anywhere.
