Wine 1.7.37 has just been released today, February 20, and it brings interface change notifications, support for the UTF-7 character encoding, various graphical fixes for themed controls, support for multi-channel audio, a new implementation of Wininet on top of the Win32 sockets, as well as several bugfixes.

According to the official release notes, a total of 71 fixes have been added in this release, which means that more Windows applications and games will be supported on GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems through Wine. You can download Wine 1.7.37 right now from Softpedia. The stable version of Wine is 1.6.2.

Several Windows games now work correctly under Wine

For your general information, we’ve compiled a list of Windows games that now work correctly on Wine 1.7.37. These are Supreme Commander, Ever 17: The Out of Infinity, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Su Doku Active, Star Trek Armada II, Skyrim, Guild Wars, Internet Chess Club (ICC) Dasher 1.5.x, Gears of War, Ultima IX: Ascension, Nexon Atlantica Online, and Nitro Family.

Moreover, the Weather Channel Desktop App, SolidWorks 2012, Kugou2012, PowerPoint 2003, Livezilla Client 3.2.x, NeoImaging, APB Reloaded Launcher, ComputeMark 2.1, and Avast! Free Antivirus 9.0.2013 applications have received fixes and should now run smoothly in Wine.

More Windows applications work correctly under Wine

In addition, the Silktest 5, Karafun, Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe After Effects 6, Metatrader 4, Crystal Disk Info 3.6, RagTime 5.6.5, Unigine Heaven DX11 Benchmark 3.0 Basic Edition: Ambient Occlusion, CEDAR Logic Simulator, TomTom Home SatNav, GEOVIA Surpac 6.x, GOG.com downloader, Guitar Pro 6, and Proteus 8 Professional apps have also received fixes.

Once again, we remind you that the Wine 1.7.37 release is a development one (read: unstable), and it is not recommended to install it on production machines as it still contains a lot of unresolved bugs. Please use the stable version if you want an uncluttered experience.
