Microsoft continues investments in the Windows Phone platform and it turns out that all these efforts are finally paying off, according to new stats provided by AdDuplex.

Basically, all improvements included in Windows Phone 8.1 convince more people to update their devices to this particular OS version, so at this point, it leads the Windows Phone lineup with a share of 50.8 percent. Windows Phone 8 is second, AdDuplex says, with 33.5 percent, while Windows Phone 7 is far behind with 15.7 percent.

Obviously, there’s a reason that makes Windows Phone 8.1 so successful, as Microsoft focused on making the operating system not only more advanced in terms of features and options, but also more customizable, no matter the device.

Lumia 520 still the king

Despite Microsoft’s investments in new devices, Lumia 520, which was one of the most affordable Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, continues to be the number one on the market with a share of 26.3 percent.

This means that more than 1 in 4 Windows Phone handsets currently out there is a Lumia 520, which does nothing more than emphasize the success that this particular model had all over the world.

Lumia 625 is second with 7.2 percent, followed by Lumia 630 with 7.1 percent, and Lumia 920 with 5.4 percent. Flagships such as Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 are nowhere to be seen in these stats.

Nokia remains the top manufacturer

Unsurprisingly, Nokia, and now Microsoft, is the biggest Windows Phone 8 manufacturer with 94.99 percent of the devices on the market wearing one of these two logos. HTC, Samsung, and Huawei come next with very small shares.

In the United States, a market where Microsoft really struggled to boost sales of Windows Phone devices but had problems fighting with Android and iOS, Lumia 521 is also experiencing a pretty big success, accounting for 22 percent of the total sales.

Lumia 520, 630, and 635 come next with strong sales as well, but again, flagships such as Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 are missing from the charts, which means that high-end sales are still going in Android’s and iOS’ yards.

The good news is that, in the United States, more devices are updated to Windows Phone 8.1, but Windows Phone 8 continues to hold the leading position with a share of 47.5 percent. If the same growing trend is maintained, 8.1 should take the leading spot in the coming weeks.

Overall, Windows Phone 8.1 adoption seems to go really well these days, and since Microsoft continues work on new models, expect it to reach new milestones in the coming months.
