Windows 10 will ship with a new browser that's internally codenamed Spartan and which brings a completely new browsing experience for users of Microsoft's operating system, but in addition to the features presented by the company on Wednesday, it turns out that there are more goodies prepared for those planning to upgrade.

Spartan will come with two different themes, light and dark, and the company showcased both of them in a screenshot of the browser on Windows 10 for Phones.

Both will obviously boast the same feature lineup, but they will come with different colors to appeal to those who want a night mode in the browser, that could make reading text easier.

Spartan will be a Modern app

Spartan will be offered on all Windows 10 versions, so it won't matter where you run the operating system because the same browser will be everywhere.

Basically, Spartan will be the default browser on PCs, tablets, and smartphones, and will be offered as a Modern app that will receive updates more easily and will be independent of the operating system completely.

This way, the company can deliver improvements to the browser without using the Windows Update system, just as is currently the case of all the other Modern apps in the store.

To be offered alongside Internet Explorer

Microsoft confirmed today that Spartan would be offered alongside Internet Explorer, as the company wants to make sure that no compatibility issues would be experienced in the new operating system.

Internet Explorer might, however, be removed at some point in the future, when Spartan is compatible with most websites out there and no issues could arise when loading a website designed for Internet Explorer.

Spartan is set to show up as a testing build in a future version of Windows 10 Technical Preview and will be included in the final version of the operating system from the get-go.
