This is what the new Music app is going to look like

Microsoft is preparing a major redesign for the Music app in Windows 10, and the official website of Xbox Live reveals the design this app could get when the operating system is ready later this summer.

First and foremost, Microsoft is very likely to drop the Xbox branding, so the new app is expected to debut just as “Music.” At the same time, a complete makeover is also very likely, especially if we look at the photo that Microsoft itself posted online.

Windows 10 is all about dark themes for the moment, so Microsoft has been trying to bring the same look in all apps available across the operating system, which means that Music and all the other pre-installed apps would come with a dark theme too.

The new Music app follows the same redesign trend and adopts this dark theme, with all artists and albums displayed in the center of the screen with rounded photos. Options to browse albums, artists, songs, and playlists are listed on the left side, where a hamburger button provides access to all of them.

Obviously, there's also a search option, as well as shortcuts to see recently accessed music content and recommended playlists.

Music playback controls are displayed at the bottom of the screen, while the left bottom corner groups options to shop for music and access account settings.

At this point, it's not yet clear whether Microsoft is planning to introduce this new app in a future Windows 10 preview build or bring it out directly in the RTM version of the operating system, but it's pretty obvious that a major redesign is on its way.

Windows 10 is projected to reach RTM in June, with general availability in July or August, so we're not very far from the moment when we'll finally get the chance to try out the new Music app.
