There's a lot of information that Microsoft recently shared with its fans regarding Windows 10 and its mobile phone version. We've learned that the Redmond-based company plans to launch Windows 10 for Phones (or whatever the final name will be) sometime this summer.

Microsoft also announced it partnered with Xiaomi to bring Windows 10 Technical Preview to select Mi4 power users, but the company further confirmed Lenovo would launch its first Windows Phone handset in mid-year 2015.

Windows 10 for Phones will bring lots of new features and improvements like support for Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display and USB Mass Storage.

But these aren't the only improvements Microsoft plans to add to Windows 10 for Phones. During its WinHEC conference in China, the company confirmed its next version of Windows Phone will bring even more connectivity features.

The highly-acclaimed USB Type-C port will be supported in Windows 10 and its mobile counterpart, but also Dual-Role support. The latter suggests that the smartphones with Windows 10 for Phones will be able to change between USB Host or USB Device.

Windows Phones will benefit from a host of connectivity features

Wi-Fi Direct is another new feature that will be part of Windows 10 for Phones, so users will be able to send files over Wi-Fi to another device with speeds of up to 5Mbps.

We already mentioned that Microsoft would bring USB Mass Storage support, but the slides presented by the company also list USB Serial Devices, USB Bluetooth and Generic USB Host Driver support.

There's also a certain slide included in Microsoft's presentation that shows a Windows Phone handset that's able to connect to other peripherals like Xbox One controller, TV, mouse and keyboard.

So it turns out that the future is really bright for Windows Phone fans. Hopefully, Microsoft will launch Windows 10 for Phones this summer and no deadlines will be missed.
