There are so many features coming in Windows 10 for Phones that Microsoft did not have the time to reveal all of them since it announced the new version of the operating system would be launched this summer.

The good news is there's still a lot of time until Windows 10 for Phones gets released so we will most likely learn about most of the new features included in the OS.

Speaking of new features, we have already reported that Windows 10 for Phones will bring support for USB Type-C, new health sensors and activity tracking, USB Mass Storage, as well as Wi-Fi Direct.

Today, Microsoft released Windows 10 Technical Preview developer tooling to Windows Insiders and among the new features mentioned in the documentation there are a few that haven't been announced yet.

For example, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 10 for Phones would support pen & ink input, as well as detailed info on handwriting recognition.

New Windows 10 smartphones will support handwriting recognition

According to the company, “Windows 10 devices will come in many shapes and sizes, many will allow you to draw directly on the screen, and Windows 10 includes a new drawing control and low-latency hardware support for a great experience when adding handwritten content to a page.”

The new features are demoed and explained in a 10-minute video, so developers can learn how their apps can make use of pen & input and handwriting recognition.

With DirectInk, Windows Phone developers will be able to add features to their apps like pressure sensitive and palm recognition, as well as finger inking (pen and finger on the same device).

Some of the next Windows 10 for Phones handsets will come with pen support and developers will now be able to create apps that may take advantage of these features.
