14 DAY TRIAL // The Windows Insider Program that Microsoft debuted in early October 2014 seems to be a really successful initiative, as more users are joining it in order to install the early builds of Windows 10 on a regular basis.
And according to Microsoft itself, the number of Windows Insiders who are currently testing Windows 10 on their devices is growing really fast and has recently reached 2 million.
The company has revealed these figures during its conference call with analysts after revealing its Q2 FY 2015 financial reports, pointing out that interest in Windows 10 continues to be high and testers across the world register for the program to give a shot to the new operating system right now.
Latest build released on Friday
Since the Windows Insider Program is so successful, the company is trying to keep users always up to date with the latest features completed by the developing team, so fresh builds are released at a much faster cadence.
The latest Windows 10 Technical Preview build was rolled out on Friday, earlier than initially scheduled, but brought quite a lot of improvements, including Cortana and an early version of Continuum, the feature that allows users to switch from the desktop to the Modern UI without interrupting their work.
Continuum automatically turns the Start menu into a Start screen and makes all apps run in full-screen mode, which helps tablet users easily continue their work despite the change of input.
And yet, Microsoft is already working on a new Technical Preview build for Windows Insider Program members, that could ship next month with even more improvements.
The company is expected to introduce this build in early February together with the first testing version of Windows 10 for Phones, but no specifics on the release date have been provided until now.
Interestingly, an error that occurred this morning made Windows 10 build 9932 show up in Windows Update for many users, but Microsoft has confirmed that it was only a mistake and it hasn't yet decided on the next build to ship to insiders.
