Good news for Windows Phone users that make WhatsApp their regular means of communication through instant messages, as developers have just released a new update for the beta version.

This is the second update for WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone launched this week, which shows that the developers are currently focusing on this platform rather than Android, iOS or BlackBerry.

That was about time, though, since WhatsApp Messenger for Windows Phone lacks quite a lot of features that are already available on other mobile platforms.

Hopefully, once Windows 10 Mobile is released, the gap between WhatsApp for Windows Phone and the versions for other platforms will get smaller, but for the time being, there's nothing else to do except accept the status quo.

Anyway, it looks like the latest update that WhatsApp pushed to the Windows Phone version of its beta app has added a few new features that are already available on Android, iOS and BlackBerry.

No word on when these features will be pushed to stable

First of all, WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone features in-app notifications, which means that you will be notified on any missed calls or incoming messages via notifications that will appear on the top, next to WhatsApp, NPU reports.

The next major feature introduced in WhatsApp Beta build 2.12.44 is the ability to save MP3 files in Pictures folder. However, this can only be done if you have some kind of file explorer application installed on your Windows Phone, otherwise, they won't be recognized by the Music app.

On the other hand, if you use a file explorer application, you would then be able to delete, rename, share or even copy the file from the Pictures folder.

These are all the major changes included in this update, but we expect more WhatsApp Beta builds to be released in the coming weeks, so those who have been accepted into the beta program should stay tuned for more details on the matter.
