“Just brings the damn Google Apps already”

Windows Phone still has a market share that doesn’t impress much, but Microsoft is hoping that an aggressive marketing push coupled with the release of a new OS version would help the company become a stronger rival for iOS and Android.

However, Windows Phone 10 is still in its incipient stages, and since not so many things are known about this fresh operating system, there’s no surprise that users have their very own requests when it comes to features which could be implemented in this new release.

To find out what users actually want from Windows Phone 10, we asked our readers on Google+ (here and here) to describe the thing they would change about Microsoft’s smartphone operating system, and the answers we got pretty much speak for themselves.

Google apps all the way

One of the main requests of our readers is to get Google apps on Windows Phone as soon as possible. There’s no doubt that without official apps to access Gmail or Google Plus, it’s really difficult for some to stick to Windows Phone, not only because sometimes these services are vital for their businesses, but also due to the fact that third-party apps which can do this are missing from the store.

The following comment pretty much says it all about the possibility of getting Google apps in the Windows Phone Store. It was posted by our reader Martin Walker.

“Microsoft need to start begging Google to get access to its services for me otherwise I can't make the switch. I love windows phone 8.1 and I love the Lumia range of phones but without access to Google apps and other things such as a mobile banking app for my bank It's not possible for me to live with it and will have to remain Android until then.”

Social integration and more customization options

Another thing that users want Microsoft to offer in Windows Phone is the original social integration that would allow them to manage all their accounts from the People hub. At this point, everyone needs to open each app, such as Facebook, to find their social contacts, while the People hub grouped them all in a single place.

Others want Microsoft to introduce more customization options in Windows Phone, while some believe that more apps and games, obviously with the focus on quality, would also help the operating system get more users.

Leaving aside the haters who want Microsoft to replace Windows Phone with Ubuntu Touch or a different operating system, there’s no doubt that most requests can actually be implemented in the upcoming update of the platform, but it all comes down to Redmond’s willingness to take feedback into account during the development process.
