Buyers post plenty of negative comments on SP3's page

The Surface Pro 3 is currently Microsoft's top-of-the-range tablet and comes not only with powerful hardware, such as an Intel i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM, but also with a full version of Windows 8.1, which basically makes it a possible replacement for traditional laptops.

On paper, the Surface Pro 3 indeed seems to be a pretty impressive device, but in reality, it turns out that not everybody is pleased with it.

Reviews posted on the official Microsoft Surface Pro 3 show that many customers are disappointed with the price of the device, its performance, and the number of bugs that seem to significantly impact the user experience.

The Surface Pro 3 price

There's no doubt that the Surface Pro 3 is a really expensive device, so you'll have to pay double the price of a laptop that would come with the same hardware configuration.

The top-of-the-range model is currently available in the United States for $1,950 (€1,500), so it's pretty clear that you'd really have to spend a lot of money to buy it. Truth is, you also get top-notch hardware, but why not choose a laptop with the same specs for half that price?

And this pricey approach is also criticized by buyers:

“A comparable laptop comes in under $1000 and includes a keyboard not to mention is also expendable in both memory and hard drive size. The surface is not. I would be perfectly fine with that ‘IF’ the surface was priced more reasonably but its sadly not.”

The Surface Pro 3 performance

The device comes with high-end specs and the most powerful version integrates an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage space, a removable keyboard, and a digital pen.

And yet, some buyers complain that the Surface Pro 3 is really slow in some apps, especially when running more demanding software that would otherwise run perfectly fine on a laptop or PC.

“I purchase the Surface pro 3 256 and I was so happy. But I hate it. i7 it is so slow. It takes forever to load. I can wash dishes and come back while its loading,” one of the disappointed users noted.

Needless to say, the slow performance of an SP3 can also be caused by the apps users installed on their devices, so anyone complaining about this should try to refresh the device and see if it performs faster on a clean install of Windows.

The Surface Pro 3 bugs

It's not a secret anymore that the Surface Pro 3 is affected by some of the bugs that were also found on previous models of the tablet.

For instance, there is an issue that causes the Wi-Fi connection to drop all of a sudden and the device to display limited connectivity, which basically makes it impossible for users to browse the Internet. This bug has been around for a while, but after many attempts to fix it, users claim that it still exists on a number of devices.

And this isn't all. Some are complaining about crashes and freezes that take place all of a sudden, not only because of the device itself but also because of Windows 8.1.

As a disclaimer, it's worth mentioning that there are also good reviews about the device, where users actually applaud the battery life, the display, the keyboard, performance, and kickstand. Right now, the Surface Pro 3 has a full four-star rating on Microsoft's website.
