The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has just received its announcement trailer, showing off some of the exciting futuristic action that's in store for gamers later this year.

Developer Treyarch and publisher Activision have dropped the video after the NBA playoffs yesterday, letting us know that we'll be able to grab a copy of the title on November 6.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a dark, gritty future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the cutting-edge military robotics that define the future of combat," the official blurb states.

It seems that the Call of Duty series is really trying to deliver some fresh elements to the classic gameplay formula, with Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and now with Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 both having a pretty deep science fiction connection.

Some details regarding the game were leaked on Reddit ahead of the trailer's release, revealing that the single-player campaign would feature cooperative multiplayer support for up to four players at the same time, and that it would be less linear than in previous installments.

Bigger and better in every way

The leak mentions that the storyline will be centered around epic cinematic moments, and that there will be numerous arena-style sequences, offering gamers a wide array of options and encouraging replayability.

The multiplayer modes are also getting a facelift, with the devs touting a new way to navigate the maps, using an enhanced movement system similar to the one seen in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, based on the new technology, and also new character progression systems.

The information also touches on a zombie mode being implemented into the game, and the official trailer confirms that there will indeed be some sweet zombie action tucked away somewhere within the game.

Furthermore, the video also points out that pre-ordering the game comes with guaranteed access to the upcoming multiplayer beta test. For the time being, there is no information regarding any platform availability or launch dates for the beta, but you can check out the game's website to find out more.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is headed to Windows PC, to the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony and the Xbox One computer entertainment system from Microsoft, on November 6, 2015.
