In case you're behind on news regarding Battlefield Hardline or you would like to learn more about the first-person shooter, you're in luck, as Sony published the Word on the Street with Battlefield Hardline Panel from the PlayStation Experience event from last week.

The panel sees some devs from Visceral Games talking about the upcoming title, about the inspiration for the unique setting that breaks the mold of the traditional military games in the Battlefield franchise.

The game will enable gamers to live out their fantasy of being on either side of the law, as the action takes them to the streets, in a brutal cops versus robbers scenario that features all the elements of the main series, with a different coat of paint and a few innovations.

Visceral Games is most famous for having created the Dead Space franchise, a gripping horror story experience from the first-person perspective, with a ton of dark and scary moments and explosive action.

The upcoming Battlefield Hardline is inspired by cop drama shows on TV, and is even built with the assistance of known writers and acting talents familiar with the setting.

Visceral will no doubt bring about an exciting single-player experience, complemented by stellar performance from actors familiar from a wide assortment of TV shows, but the developer is also promising one of the fastest and most challenging multiplayer experiences in the series yet.

A new direction for Battlefield

The developer aims to give its single-player campaign a tangible TV show vibe, following the story of a young detective caught amidst a ring of crime and corruption, looking out to clear his name from the other side of the law and bring those responsible for his downfall to justice.

The game shifted focus from actual warfare to the war on crime, and now the main battling factions are the Criminals and the Special Response Units, involved in a deadly drug war on the streets of Miami.

The title features several multiplayer game modes and includes the praised Levolution mechanic introduced by main series developer DICE in Battlefield 4, enabling gamers to trigger important changes in the layout of the maps they play on mid-match.

Battlefield Hardline is scheduled to come out in 2015, on March 17 in North America and March 19 in Europe, headed to the Windows PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

Hopefully, publisher Electronic Arts learned its lesson after the disastrous BF4 launch, and this time around things will go smoothly.
