Digital Extremes has announced that the Mesa Update for Warframe is now live on the PlayStation 4 home console, after being released on PC less than a month ago.

The free-to-play third-person shooter was launched on PC in March of 2013, followed by a release on the PS4 in November, 2013, and it finally reached the Xbox One computer entertainment system earlier this year, in September.

The game puts players in control of the Tenno, warriors belonging to a race of ancient beings that have awoken after being suspended in cryosleep for centuries, only to find themselves at war with three different factions.

The Warframe title comes from the advanced combat suits that the Tenno use, enabling them to become a force to be reckoned with in any battle, and to make use of a wide range of abilities during engagements.

The Mesa update introduces the Gunslinger, an expert marksman with superb crowd control abilities, and also adds a new event, a new boss, a lot of new customization options and many other pieces of content.

While all Tenno are masters of both gun and blade, this update focuses a bit more on the gun side of things.

A lot of new content

Mesa the Gunslinger has a bunch of exciting tricks up its sleeve, including the ability to store up damage that can be released in a single, deadly shot. In addition to this, Mesa can also jam enemy weapons at random times while boosting the damage of its allies.

Mesa can also reflect incoming enemy fire back at a random enemy, and unleash its custom slinger pistols in a flurry of gunshots.

Players will be able to get their hands on a multitude of new weapons, such as the Redeemer, Paracyst, and Gammacor, and six weapons have been reskinned and updated to reflect their use by the Syndicate.

The update introduced a brand new boss for gamers to take down, Alad V, a warrior consumed by the Infestation, causing havoc with his experiments. The renegade Corpus madman is most likely behind the surge in Infested activity seen around the Solar System.

Gamers will also be able to add some custom skins and colors to their Liset, and engage new enemies on newly opened areas of the Ice Planet. Furthermore, the Ice Planet Mobile Defense mission type is now ready for action.
