This distribution comes with a lot of default apps

Voyager X8 is a Linux distribution based on Debian 8.1 "Jessie," and it uses the Xfce 4.12 desktop environment. The developers have integrated a large number of apps and have also made sure that it runs on systems with UEFI.

There are plenty of Debian-based operating systems out there, and you might think that there's no place to fit another one, but Voyager X8 proves that you can still bring new stuff and get people interested. In all fairness, Debian is a very popular base for operating systems, and Ubuntu and Linux Mint are just a couple of the biggest ones. It makes sense that others will also use it.

It's difficult to build something interesting nowadays, especially since there are probably more than one hundred maintained Linux distros right now. If you thought of something new, it's pretty likely that someone else has already implemented it, but it doesn't mean innovations don't happen. For example, Voyager X8 is one of the few distros that managed to integrate the recently released Debian 8.1 "Jessie" and Xfce 4.12.

Voyager X8 is fast

One of the things people will notice in the new release is that Voyager X8 is a fast system, and it all has to do with the implementation of Xfce, which is a smooth and lightweight desktop environment. The latest version of Xfce has just been released, after it's been in the works for quite some time, so there aren't too many OSes out there that have decided to adopt it.

On the other hand, the Linux kernel is not one of the latest ones. The version implemented in Voyager X8 is 3.16, which is actually a very odd choice, considering that it's no longer maintained and it reached end of life a while ago.

Also, many important packages have been implemented by default, including Conky, Smtube, Kodi XBMC Media Center, VLC, Word, GIMP, Clementine, CoverGloobus, RadioTray, Slingscold, Skippy-xd, Kazam, Transmission, Pulse Audio Equalizer, Cheese, Impulse, Screenlets, LibreOffice, Tilda, and many more.

The developers have provided different builds for the 64-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit with UEFI support. Download Voyager X8 right now from Softpedia. Enjoy!
