Oracle has just announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the fourth Beta release of the upcoming VirtualBox 5.0 virtualization software for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 4 brings some XSAVE fixes in the Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), addresses some problems with cloning of virtual machine in the new encryption backend, and repairs several drag and drop issues for Linux guests and hosts.

Moreover, the fourth Beta of VirtualBox 5.0 introduces hot-plugging support for USB storage controller, repairs volume control issues for mono streams, fixes a regression introduced in the previous Beta in the Snapshots component, and no longer terminates UDP bindings on ICMP errors under NAT.

Several other bugs have been squashed in Beta 4

Also, VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 4 fixes some problems with the icons for restorestate and savestate function, as well as with the icons for HiDPI-aware X11 and Windows hosts. A crash that occurred when restoring the virtual machine state has been patched as well, along with loss of output after loading saved state.

Among other changes, we can mention that reading the partition table on Microsoft Windows systems now works correctly, it is now possible to attach multiple emulated disks to the xHCI USB 3.0 controller, and a hang in iSCSI that occurred during shutdown has been patched.

Download VirtualBox 5.0 Beta 4 for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia. Once again, Oracle warns users not to use this Beta version of VirtualBox on a production environment, where stability is imperative.

In related news, we remind everyone that Oracle released VirtualBox 4.3.28 in the stable channel last week. Many issues were patched in this release, especially the well-known "Venom" zero-day vulnerability found in the upstream QEMU virtualization software. Support for Linux kernel 4.1 was also introduced.
