VirtualBox is a well-known virtualization application that allows users to run and install operating systems inside other OSes. It has one big advantage over its competition, and that is the fact that it comes with a simple interface that can be used by anyone.

VirtualBox is one of the best applications of its kind on the Linux platform and its success lies in its ability to run a large number of very different OSes, including Mac OS and Windows. It stands to reason that most of the Linux distros are also working without any issue.

This latest iteration of the application comes with a lot of fixes and various small improvements, but this is just a maintenance release and nothing more. Don't expect to see any new features or major changes. Surprisingly, there are a few stable VirtualBox branches that are maintained at the same time, but 4.3.x is the most advanced one.

There are very few Linux-specific fixes for VirtualBox 4.3.20. A few are for the GUI, some are for the storage, and others only address issues on other platforms. The most interesting change is by far the support for Linux kernel 3.18. This is worth noting because this particular kernel is not out yet.

Some repositories might be quick to integrate this latest release, but the speed varies on the distribution. Users will find that the VirtualBox devs have already compiled some binaries for the most important platforms.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. You can also check our review of VirtualBox and you can also download VirtualBox 4.3.20 from Softpedia.
