14 DAY TRIAL // Just a few days ago, a monkey in India was knocked unconscious by an electric shock and ended up falling on some train tracks. Rather than abandon the injured animal, one of its buddies did its best to save its life and eventually succeeded.
The incident was caught on camera and the footage made it online just yesterday. Fret not, the video in question is available below. Fair warning, though: the sight of the monkey desperately trying to rescue its friend is rather shocking, so viewer discretion is recommended.
How the incident played out
Word has that it this incident occurred in the city of Kanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Apparently, the monkey that needed to be rescued got electrocuted while exploring some high-tension cables above a local train station.
Once left unconscious by the electric shock, the animal fell to the ground and landed on some train tracks. But for its buddy, the injured monkey would have surely been run over by a train in just a few minutes after its fall.
The good news is that, rather than simply abandon the unlucky monkey, one of its friends decided to try and save its life. As shown in the video documenting this incident, the monkey shook its friend, bit it by the head, and even dunked its body in water.
According to the folks who witnessed this rescue mission, the monkey spent about 20 minutes trying to help its friend regain consciousness. During this time, it kept an eye open for threats such as trains looking to leave or arrive at the station, DM tells us.
The rescue mission proved a success
Sometime after being electrocuted and falling to the ground, the hero monkey's friend started to come around. As detailed by witnesses, it first opened its eyes and then started to move about. To keep it safe, its buddy dragged it as far away from the train tracks as possible.
What's more, word has it that, after making sure that its friend was well on the road to recovery, the hero monkey even treated it to a grooming session, just to comfort it and help it recover from the dreadful experience it had just been through.
Mind you, this incident was not the first of its kind. On the contrary, it was just a few days ago that a video showing a turtle helping a stranded friend get back on its feet hit the online community and, just like the footage of the two monkeys, went viral.
