After having released Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 a while ago, the major carrier has announced that its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, will be given the same treatment.

Today, the Big Red published the official changelog of the update, and a few hours ago, the first reports started to pop up online, confirming the availability of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Verizon has been pretty thorough with its Android updates in the last couple of weeks, so we expect more and more smartphones to receive the long-awaited upgrade.

Anyway, those who own the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 should check for the new software version LRX21V.N900VVRUEOB6, which is supposed to update their phablets to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty big update, so you might want to make some room in your storage space before attempting to download the file.

According to Verizon, the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a few days to reach all Samsung Galaxy Note 3 devices.

Material Design and improved TouchWiz UI

As expected, the update adds the famous Material Design language, which provides users with more complex animations and 3D views.

Android 5.0 Lollipop also improves the Galaxy Note 3 overall performance and optimizes the battery use. Bolder color, fluid animation effects and interactions will be implemented too.

Two new shortcuts for both Phone and Camera will be place on the lockscreen. The TouchWiz UI has been improved too, in order to reflect the changes in Material Design.

Multi-windows icons for ease of use during multi-tasking will be added as well, along with a parallax scrolling effect that makes the UI more intuitive.

If you haven't been notified on the update yet, you may want to check for it manually by heading to Settings / About phone / Software updates.
