The carrier recently launched the LG Lancet

Samsung ATIV SE is not such an old smartphone at all. The Windows Phone has been released by Verizon back in April 2014, which means it's only been around a year since the phone went on sale.

However, the Big Red has decided that the ATIV SE is of no interest to customers and discontinued the device, as WMPU notes.

Keep in mind that this might not be entirely Verizon's fault, as there's a chance Samsung might have decided to not pursue any other sales through the US carrier.

Another reason might be the fact that Verizon recently launched the affordable LG Lancet with Windows Phone 8.1 onboard. Also, let's not forget that Verizon is expected to launch another Windows Phone pretty soon, the Lumia 735.

Microsoft Lumia 735 with Verizon's logo has been see a few times in the wild, but there's still no word on when exactly the smartphone might go on sale.

Still, in comparison with the Lumia 735, the Samsung ATIV SE is a better smartphone in terms of specs. This means that Verizon will need to cover the high-end tier with other Windows Phone in the future.

The ATIV SE is a more than decent Windows Phone

Samsung ATIV SE sports a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

The smartphone is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The ATIV SE packs 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 64GB. On the back, the Windows Phone has a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, Samsung ATIV SE is powered by a 2,600 mAh battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 480 hours of standby time or up to 20 hours of talk time.
