The game has seen huge positive feedback from the community

For those who missed yesterday's news that Valve decided to remove a game from Steam Greenlight, here is a quick recap. Developer Destructive Creations announced its fans that, a couple of hours after their controversial game HATRED was listed on Steam Greenlight, it was taken down by Valve.

The only explanation given to developers was that the game might in some way violate Steam’s Terms of Service, even though the game was upvoted by so many gamers that it reached #7 in top 100 list several hours after it appeared on Steam Greenlight.

Here is the short email developers received after the game was removed from Steam Greenlight: “We wanted you guys to know that based on what we see on Greenlight we would not publish Hatred on Steam. As such we’ll be taking it down.”   Well, it looks like Valve’s decision to take down the game from Steam Greenlight hasn’t been received very well by both gamers and media.   That seems to have attracted Gabe Newell’s attention, who took the matter into his own hands, and after investigating the issue, decided that HATRED should be reinstated on Steam Greenlight.   He even sent Destructive Creations an email apologizing for his employers’ decision to remove HATED from the service. You can read the short message below:

“Hi Jaroslaw,

Yesterday I heard that we were taking Hatred down from Greenlight. Since I wasn’t up to speed, I asked around internally to find out why we had done that. It turns out that it wasn’t a good decision, and we’ll be putting Hatred back up. My apologies to you and your team. Steam is about creating tools for content creators and customers.

Good luck with your game. Gabe”

The game is now #1 on Steam Greenlight with more than 25k upvotes

It couldn’t have gone much better for HATRED than it did, as the game is now #1 on the list of soon-to-be-approved titles on Steam Greenlight only 7 hours after being reinstated.

Once again, this is proof that no matter how hard you try to prevent something from getting out, if there are enough people supporting an idea or a product, they will always prevail sooner or later.

The only thing one can do is delay the inevitable and that is exactly what Valve tried to do with the removal of HATRED from Steam Greenlight.

We’re aware that this whole situation has aroused strong emotions among gamers and that the matter should be threaded lightly, but as long as there are people supporting games like HATRED, there will always be such debates.
