The VLC for Windows Phone saga is close to a happy ending, as developers have finally announced they have a working version to show the world.

The long-awaited video player application is likely to be released in the Windows Phone Store in the next couple of weeks if nothing wrong happens during the development process, such as critical bugs showing up or anything like that.

But there’s even more good news, as VLC creators announced the application would work on ARM devices like Surface RT, as well as on Windows Phone handsets.

Although this is not the first time VideoLan teases the upcoming VLC for Windows Phone, this is the first time developers have a working version to prove the application is close to being finished.

In this regard, the folks over at VideoLan published a picture of the application running on the Surface RT, as proof that VLC is indeed in the final stages of development. Windows Phone fans must be thrilled that the moment they have been waiting for is about to become reality soon.

All in all, here is hoping that VLC will be released in Windows Phone sooner rather than later. We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the matter, so stay tuned.
