The Vuze (formerly Azureus) BitTorrent client has been updated to version 5.6, a major release that includes numerous improvements to the graphical user interface, new and updated plugins, as well as a number of improvements and bug fixes over the previous version. Vuze 5.6 is now available for download for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows computer operating systems.

Vuze 5.6 introduces a basic quick-options plugin bar view, revamps the right-click context menu of the Library view, lets users disable upload and download for tag rate limits, supports redirection of output from console commands, and adds a context menu option in the Peers view in order to remove peers from the list without banning them.

Additionally, the new Vuze release introduces support for .vuze files in the Plugin Installation wizard, adds various subscription settings to the sidebar context menu, adds an option in the Files view that allows users to hide do-not-download files, and injects an explicit web browser configuration option that has been designed for non-public content.

Vuze 5.6 comes with support for Play-to DLNA enabled devices

Other new features include Swarm merging, support for Play-to DLNA enabled devices, an option to automatically select 'do not download’ files, as well as tagging and auto-sharing support for device transcodes. The Tag constraint language receives isComplete, age and percentage options, and several plugins have been added, including Decentralized chat, RSS-to-chat, and TorBrowser.

Moreover, auto-download subscriptions are now scheduled more equally, the title of the decoded magnet URI is now displayed in the download window, the About window received some attention as links have been added for the Onion and eepSite websites, the DHT activity view now displays only active activities, and the Brazilian Portuguese translation has been updated.

As mentioned, several bugs have been squashed in Vuze 5.6, such as the 'is-interested' bug, reduced flickering for the status bar tooltips, inaccessible sub-tab 'sash', a couple of Magnet URI plugin issues, stuck peers connections issues, as well as force disconnect duplicate outbound issues. Lastly, user can access the Swarm search function directly from the context menu.
