Microsoft unveiled the Surface 3 tablet last month, and the company started shipping the device in May, but it now appears that Redmond is ready to add a new model that would first go on sale in Germany in the coming days.

WinFuture has spotted what seems to be a mid-range Surface 3 configuration that’s available at several German online stores, which could expand the original lineup to give buyers more choices.

The new Surface 3 model comes with 64 GB of storage space and 4 GB of RAM, while the rest of the specs seem to remain unchanged.

The Surface 3 comes with a 10.8-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1280 pixels, 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for the entry-level model, and 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for the high-end configuration. This means that the new model is a mix between these two, so it perfectly fits the Surface 3 lineup.

Affordable price

As far as pricing is concerned, the Surface 3 mid-range configuration is available in Germany for €659 ($735), more affordable than the top model, which is available in Germany for about €779 ($865).

Microsoft hasn’t yet publicly announced the new Surface 3 model, but we’ve reached out to the company for more information and will update the article when we get an answer.

In the meantime, everyone’s waiting for the Surface Pro 4, an upgraded model of the top Surface that will come with better hardware and Windows 10. Details are missing right now, but it’s believed that the Surface Pro 4 will launch later this year, most likely shortly after the new Windows 10 operating system becomes available.

The new device is again likely to be promoted as a laptop replacement, so expect a display of at least 12 inches for the new model, while a digital pen will continue to be offered for drawing and writing.
