When you sign up for any website, you generally agree to some terms of service. The reality is that nobody actually reads them, and most of the times people agree to horrible conditions even without knowing.

The Terms of Service; Didn't Read website is a user initiative that set out to simplify long-winded Terms of Service agreements, and easily compress them into small, easy digestible phrases, accompanied by a grade from A to E.

An A grade is assigned to websites that treat their users properly, respecting their rights and data. On the other hand, an E grade is generally given to services with a ToS that's very intrusive on your rights, and should be avoided if possible.

Find out who's been good and who's been bad

The site is basically a database of famous services, with the likes of Facebook, Google, GitHub, YouTube, Yahoo, or Wikipedia, but also with smaller and lesser-known utilities like RuneScape, Zoosk, Nabble, or OLX.

For example, Google has a class C rating, DuckDuckGo has a class A rating, while YouTube is considered a service with a class D ToS.

Some services are still unrated, but small descriptions of their ToSs are offered until actual ratings can be shown. Here you can find listings for the likes of Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, Apple, Amazon, and a few other more.

Browser extensions are available

Besides the website itself, the Terms of Service; Didn't Read team also provides browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera, which would make it very easy to get a rating in real-time, while browsing a service's ToS section.

The service has been live since 2012 and has done a great job at analyzing terms of service, compressing them into a few lines, and providing valuable updates as companies also update their ToS sections.
