It’s been spotted at Australian Classification Board

One of the most beloved game franchises, Borderlands might be getting a remake soon. It’s been 5 years since the first installment in the series hit PC and consoles and the folks at 2K are probably thinking that it’s time to bring the original game Borderlands to life once again.

Word that 2K and Gearbox might resurrect Borderland soon comes directly from Australia via Player Attack. Apparently, an unannounced “Borderlands: Remastered Edition” title has just been spotted on Australian Classification Board, as MA15+.

Now, we don’t know what exactly the remastered edition will contain, but we can safely assume that at least the original Borderlands, and possibly all its DLCs, will be included.

I’m thinking that this year we had so many projects focusing on enhanced and remastered editions, which is laudable given the fact that most of the resurrected games are gems that the world should never forget.

Metro Redux, Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition are just some of the games that have been improved with new graphics and content. And let’s not forget that Ubisoft has just announced Heroes of Might and Magic III, which should hit Steam on January 29, 2015.

2K and Gearbox could not miss this chance of cashing in on another release in the Borderlands series. But the thing is Borderlands: Remastered Edition will be the second game in the franchise to be available on next-generation consoles.

It will be the second Borderlands game ported on next-gen consoles

Considering the first game launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is Tales from Borderlands, I would say the remastered edition of Borderlands will have a huge success among owners of next-gen consoles.

We’re not so sure how PC games will see 2K’s new release of Borderlands Remastered Edition, but that will probably highly depend on the contents of the game and price.

If the price is high and those who own the original version don’t get some kind of discount, then it might not be seen as a good deal among PC gamers.

Unfortunately, there are no details on when exactly Borderlands Remastered Edition might hit stores, but now that news about the game has already been leaked, we expect 2K to make an announcement in the coming weeks.

Next-gen console owners will probably be very tempted to purchase the only shooter/RPG title in the Borderlands series, but it will be interesting to see how 2K Games will try to lure in PC gamers on this one.

While we wait for 2K to confirm the game and say when it will go on sale, why not read our The Borderlands: Pre-Sequel review.
