A fresh batch of leaked details about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End have just appeared online, this time concerning its actual gameplay, alongside a confirmation that the upcoming PS4 exclusive will have a multiplayer mode.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was officially presented to the world at E3 2014 last summer through a short video, and at the PlayStation Experience in December of last year, developer Naughty Dog showcased a lengthier gameplay demonstration.

Fresh gameplay details are available

Now, after GameInformer magazine ran a special cover story on Uncharted 4, a lot of details have leaked online, via NeoGAF, this time concerning its gameplay mechanics.

First up, it seems that players will still control protagonist Nathan Drake, but this time around, he'll be helped out by his long-lost brother, Sam Drake. In terms of gameplay, Sam will be controlled by a smart AI system that's going to resemble the one seen in Naughty Dog's previous project, The Last of Us, as players were helped out by Ellie while they controlled Joel.

The improved AI also extends to enemies, who will be able to deflect or even turn the tide on the players, especially when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. Then, expect plenty of puzzles that also bring into play some of the tools that can be used by Nathan and Sam, such as a rope or a piton, which is more of a metal spike.

Multiple paths through the environments are present

Naughty Dog also wants to bring forth more open environments in Uncharted 4, as players have a higher degree of freedom when it comes to exploring them. Examples include paths that avoid certain enemy camps, or some that lead to hidden caves filled with treasures and other goodies. There will also be plenty of side stories for those who want to soak up as much as possible from the world.

All of the aforementioned paths have consequences, so players shouldn't try to find the "golden path" that has just advantages and no disadvantages.

The studio also confirms that a multiplayer mode will be present in Uncharted 4 but declines to say just what it will consist of. Past games have had some pretty stellar competitive experiences, but for quite some time, fans have demanded a cooperative mode, even one based on the story. It's unclear if Naughty Dog might finally answer their plead with Uncharted 4 when it launches towards the end of the year for the PS4.

Look forward to more details in the future, probably at big events like E3 2015 in summer.
