Naughty Dog has just released the first proper gameplay footage video from the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, showing everyone why they should be excited about the action-adventure video game.

After last year’s massive success with The Last of Us, Naughty Dog was hard pressed to come up with something better, something that would entrance fans in the same way, and a fresh installment in the Uncharted series seems to be the chosen path.

Granted, the series has been very successful so far, being praised by both fans and critics, and is one of the strong PlayStation-exclusive franchises that secure the popularity of Sony’s consoles.

Naughty Dog promised that more details regarding Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would come out before the end of the year, and the famed developer has delivered on its promise with a juicy piece of unaltered gameplay.

Since the title’s reveal at this year’s edition of the E3 convention, the team has been hard at work, and now, at the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas, following The Game Awards, the first official gameplay video was unveiled.

The PS4 has a strong year ahead

The Uncharted series has been one of the best-selling on PlayStation platforms, and the reveal of the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sparked a lot of interest in the console, especially since Naughty Dog bragged that the footage shown during the reveal was actual in-game graphics, running on a PS4 home console.

The level of detail seemed too good to be true, and the gameplay video revealed this weekend shows that the team intends to deliver a truly impressive experience.

Naughty Dog is targeting 1080p resolution and a 60 frames per second frame rate for the final version of the game, and apart from sweet visuals, the gameplay reveal also contained some other exciting bits.

The action is the same hectic and explosive cocktail that the developer accustomed us with, complete with a ton of foliage effects (such as people falling through trees), top-notch rock climbing skills, grappling hook action, destructible cover, stealth takedowns, and exciting melee combat.

The environment looks very much alive, with a ton of neat effects and all the vegetation moving in the wind. The lighting effects look great too, making everything pop out more, and the character faces are still good enough to impress.

Everything looks very fluid and the animations are stunning, from flapping weapon straps to water particles and everything. It seems like porting The Last of Us from PS3 to PS4 was really worth the time spent, learning the new system’s tricks.
