The Ubuntu Online Summit starts in just a couple of days and this is the perfect opportunity for the Linux community and the Ubuntu users to find out more about this operating system and about Canonical's plans.

Ubuntu developers organize these summits so that the entire Ubuntu community can come together in the same place. This is a good way to learn more about what Canonical is planning with all of its products. These plans are always in the open, but it's a good thing that, from time to time, users can find out anything they want straight from the devs.

The new summit was organized right after the launch of Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) and during the development cycle for Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet). The Ubuntu ecosystem is going through some very interesting changes and numerous important modifications will be made in the immediate future.

The Ubuntu Online Summit is all about users

The Ubuntu operating system is scheduled to get some new major features in the next couple of years, including a new display server called Mir and a new major version of the Unity desktop environment, not to mention the systemd integration, which is already well underway.

"Ubuntu Online Summit is once again upon us. This is a community event by and for the community. It's all encompassing and intends to cover a wide range of topics. You don't need to be a developer, project lead, member of a team, or even a member of ubuntu to join and participate. The only requirement is your passion for ubuntu and desire to discuss about it's future with others."

"The dates are set as November 12 - November 14 from 1400 UTC to 2000 UTC. I would encourage everyone to take a look at the schedule as it evolves and considering joining in sessions they find interesting. Don't forget to register to attend!" writes Canonical's Nicholas Skaggs on the mailing list.

All the events are live and users will be able to participate, just like in any of the other virtual summits organized until now. It would be a good idea to get your questions ready ahead of time and to check the official website for more information about the subjects that will be discussed.

In the meantime, you can also download Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) from Softpedia and give it a go, if you haven't done so already.
