The system has been deemed stable and fast

Canonical released Ubuntu 15.04 a couple of weeks ago, and it seems that it's been a success. The community is mostly reporting a nice experience, which is important since this is the first Ubuntu release that uses systemd instead of upstart.

When Debian announced the switch to systemd, Canonical followed almost immediately. It took them a while to get it implemented, but from the looks of it Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) is a success or least this is what we can believe if we follow the feedback from the community.

To be fair, Ubuntu 15.04 hasn't changed all that much. Some minor visual changes have been implemented, along with a couple of new features, but the system has remained pretty much the same. The underlying components, such as systemd or the Linux kernel play a very important role, and there is no disputing that, but the fact is that most people look for the obvious changes.

The new wallpaper is a sign that things are moving on

Old time users of Ubuntu will notice that the 15.04 edition now comes with a new wallpaper that's not orange. It might have to do with the fact that Ubuntu is changing and that it's finally leaving its past behind or maybe it's just a new cool background. In any case, Canonical is preparing to release Unity 8, a new display manager called Mir, and they are even implementing a new packaging system.

In the meantime, users have just received Ubuntu 15.04 and people from Reddit and Google+ plus are calling it a success. It's stable, fast, and it lacks the usual problems accompanied by new releases. There are some small problems, but this kind of accord among Ubuntu users hasn't happened in a while.
