Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn), the upcoming Linux distribution from Canonical that is scheduled to arrive in October, has just entered final Beta freeze.

The final Beta freeze stage for Ubuntu is significant because it says that a new and final Beta is getting closer to release. Unlike previous versions, the official Ubuntu flavor will also participate and users will be able to test it.

"As of nowish, the archive is frozen for 14.10 Final Beta preparation, and will continue to be frozen from here until Final release next month. As with the previous release, we have a bot in place that will accept uploads that are unseeded and don't affect images. Don't take this as an open invitation to break Feature Freeze on those components, this is just to reduce the burden on the release team, so we only review the uploads that need very serious consideration," notes Canonical's Adam Conrad.

The final version of Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) is expected to arrive on October 23 and it seems to be right on schedule. If you don't want to wait anymore, you can download the Daily Build right now from Softpedia. It's not final, but all the features have already been implemented.
