They need to log in starting December 23

Video game publisher Ubisoft says that it is planning to launch a special holiday promotion on December 23 via its Uplay service, which will allow fans access to a range of content for their favorite titles and will give the luckiest 40 access to one whole year of free video games from the company.

During the 15-day period, gamers will be able to get Reward unlocks for unspecified games, new Avatar customization options, discounts for titles, and a chance to claim the big prize.

The official announcement explains that “Every day that you log in to claim your gift you will also be given one or in some cases multiple ‘luck boosters’. At the end of the 15 days all of your boosters will go towards our final festive lottery in which we will pick 40 lucky players to receive a copy of every Ubisoft game released on the PC in 2014.”

Ubisoft says gamers should aim to get all the 15 boosters, but it has not mentioned whether the prize will cover all the titles that the company has introduced over the past year on all platforms or only on the PC and home consoles.

The publisher could have offered gamers coins or a way to get content for the titles they own, rather than delivering Rewards for popular titles that they do not own.

Ubisoft needs to get the trust of players back

The French publisher might be ready to celebrate Christmas, but many of those who have bought its titles during the past few months are not satisfied with its actions.

Assassin’s Creed Unity has recently received the major fourth patch, which is supposed to fix all the remaining issues with the game, but seems to have actually introduced some new issues with NPCs, at least for a minority of players.

The Crew also had problems on launch, and there are still players who are reporting lag that makes it unplayable.

Ubisoft will need to make sure that its future launches, which include the much hyped The Division, deliver quality as soon as they are released.

The company could also introduce more rewards to its holiday promotion or take a cue from the likes of Electronic Arts, which is at the moment offering old titles from its catalogue for free to all those using digital distribution service Origin and is giving free trials for limited periods of time.
